No it's talking about what everyone knows happens at prom. First time having sex. Obviously because what junior/senior hasn't had their first slow dance??? In the song it says "I'm telling you our parents will never know" now if it was really about a first dance I don't think the parents would give a **** if they danced. Haha and in the song says "fellas it's the night you've been waiting for, ladies I know your ready" honestly? I think it's not about dancing..... Source(s): Using my brain... Best Answer - Chosen by Voters Yes, he's talking about going to prom and his first time slow dancing with a girl.When he says i promise ill be gentle, he means like, he wont be "grinding" all over her and what not, he'll respect her. And the "we gotta do it slowly" part means dancing slowly, not rushing. And "It only happens once in a lifetime" means he's only going to get to dance with someone for the first time one time.
